SOH – Candle Making

An online ad for SOH Melbourne, shot from above in the candle workshop. Rows of vessels are laid out along the bench as each one is poured, set and finished by hand, the camera holding still while the work moves beneath it. We shot it in early 2017 alongside a full stills session in the workshop, so SOH came away with the film and a large library of pictures from the same day. Our first cut carried two lines of dialogue from the team, with two music options to choose from. In the end SOH went with a version with no voice at all, letting the process and the music do the talking. We pushed the music up towards the end for a stronger finish, colour graded it in house and delivered a file ready to share with stockists.
