Ruel – Not Thinkin’ Bout You

Travelling thousands of kilometres between Melbourne, Tokyo, Seoul and Los Angeles over 3 weeks, this music video for budding superstar Ruel has now garnered almost 10 million views on YouTube and added to his portfolio of work, which also led him to win an ARIA award. Directed by Grey Ghost from their treatment, the track features GoldLink, and we came on as DOP for the trip. We shot on a URSA, much of it handheld on a Ronin gimbal with longer lenses, and kept the lighting light: a kit of pixel tubes travelled with us, and in Tokyo we let the neon of the streets do a lot of the work. Back in Melbourne we also took on the colour grade. While on the road we filmed a set of stripped back acoustic performance videos with Ruel too, which we cut to the approved music takes.
